TESU Joins New Jersey School Boards Association PIE Initiative to Enhance the K-12 Education System

May 16, 2025

Thomas Edison State University has partnered with the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) in an initiative to create innovative educational development and advancement opportunities for New Jersey’s K-12 professionals.

The initiative, Partners in Education (PIE) program, was developed by the NJSBA to promote positive and transformative approaches to the increasingly complex challenges facing the public education system. Designed to foster collaboration and support New Jersey’s education community, the PIE program provides innovative, engaging and practical strategies for public education professionals.

“We are delighted to be contributing to the PIE initiative. Our partnership with NJSBA enables K-12 educational professionals to reimagine school leadership, organizational culture, and change using interdisciplinary strategies, methods, and tools," stated Michael Williams, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business and Management at TESU. “The alliance leverages the University’s resources and expertise in educational leadership and workforce-aligned curriculum innovation. Public education leaders, administrators and teachers are constantly challenged to address student achievement gaps, implement contemporary curricula, and culturally adapt to rapid and often discontinuous economic, social and technological changes. As a result, the public education ecosystem is continually confronting conditions that resist simple solutions.”

To address these conditions, Williams will deliver a webinar on Thursday, May 29, at 1 p.m., titled "Organizational Leadership, Culture and Change: An Integrated Approach for Creating the Future of Public Education Today. "The webinar will explore the inextricable relationship between organizational leadership, culture, and change in public education, offering interdisciplinary strategies, methods, and tools to stimulate thinking and action, enabling public education professionals to create the future of public education today,” noted Williams.

"We are excited to welcome TESU to the Partners in Education program," said Lauren Cuervo, senior director of Connection at NJSBA. The institution's expertise in higher education and commitment to professional development lends a new dimension of resources to the program."
